A nervous servant brings her to Lucien’s room, explaining that he is in the mortal lands. She drops the books and maps on his desk as she walks around the room, the reminder of his very essence entangling in all of her senses, leaving her disoriented. She trailed a hand up the soft sheets of his bed, then against the spines of his books stacked song the shelves that lined nearly every wall, until it led her back to the desk.
Curiosity, hungrier and more contentious than ever before, pooled in her stomach. Was it wrong to look? He was her mate after all.
