Summary
Some thought that the curse that came with the gift of foresight was seeing horrors ahead, or feeling powerless to stop the currents of events already set in motion. No, it was nothing quite so simple as that. It was always the waiting.
---
The first three meetings of the White Council, told from Galadriel's perspective, with a heavy helping of behind the scenes speculation about Saruman's trustworthiness. Even the wisest beings in Middle Earth have their rivalries and doubts, after all.

"Maedhros, forgive me for saying it plainly: if you bound yourself to him just to bind him to this battle, then it was not well done. It was not—" the frown failed, and Maglor just looked embarrassed now, for sincerity did not suit him, "—not kind."
"I did no such thing," Maedhros said.
"But you did marry him."
"Not for this battle," Maedhros said. He smiled to himself. This memory had never been a good one before. "We have been wed these four hundred years."

"When will you marry?" said Curufin, abrupt.
"I shall not," said Maedhros. He said it peaceably enough. Twice already he had endured this conversation: at Maglor's wedding, and at Caranthir's.

Summary
One of the many walking ways that could have led a lonely netchiman's child to become the powerful Tribune Vivec, and his deeply complicated relationship with Serjo Indoril Nerevar Mora. This one focuses way less on CHIM and is less lore-centric than its sequel. Basically it has only a little convoluted bullshit and lots of feelies.
edit: I wrote this when I was in high school and therefore I find it hella cringe and considered deleting it. I decided to leave it up, though, as people still seem to be responding positively to it and the other Vivec fic I wrote. I likely won't be responding to any comments, requests, etc, though.
