Summary
“You’ve been at war your whole life, haven’t you?”
It breaks him at his seams. Gaping chasms in a glacial field.
Years of his life have been dedicated to destroying whatever remained of that broken child. Covered under layers of silt, that area of his mind laid dormant, gray, and obscured and never to be seen. But now, he is placed on display, to be dusted and examined.
All of the effort, the pain, the pieces of himself he lost, all done for nothing. Now he lays exposed and furious with himself.
How dare he think himself so deserving of their acceptance, so deserving of their camaraderie and understanding. He is broken and will continue to be, and now they know.
