Buck, Eddie, and Ravi cleared floor after floor to make sure no one was left behind. When they reached the third, they heard it—a little girl crying for help somewhere above the roar of the fire.
“It’s getting worse up here. We should wait for backup,” Eddie said, urgency in his tone.
“But, Eddie, there’s a little girl up there!” Buck’s voice cracked, desperate.
