Summary
Hawks struggled to regain control. The passage of time buried the sensation of having an extra pair of appendages, but the experience remained vivid in the deepest part of his being. He flapped his wings and slowed his fall. He swayed countless times, descending and ascending like a bird on its first flight. He felt the pull of an ascending air current. With his heart thundering, he followed the flow and shot toward the vast expanse above.
