Chakotay is now Captain of his first ship and going back to the Delta quadrant. He’s not a bit happy about the assignment because he’s leaving behind a certain Admiral who happens to wear his ring and is about to have his son. You can’t argue with HQ ov r assignments, despite a pissed off hormonal Admiral. At least he had hologram Janeway to assist with the cadets being assigned to Chakotay’s ship. What if Janeway designed a special holodeck program just for Chakotay ?
