Summary
Yuuji's sixteenth birthday comes and goes with all the gluttony and celebration one would expect. Megumi, against his better judgment, can't let the occasion pass without letting his heart loose, just a little.

Summary
Perhaps, then, he wonders if Yuuji is the one who makes it beautiful. Megumi, with his dark hair like everyone else, his understated clothes, his slender form made for tight spaces and crowded subways, seems to meld with the environment around him. But Yuuji stands out like a monument (in Megumi’s eyes, but the whole of Tokyo must agree). He is bright and wonderful; he puts the lights in the skyscrapers to shame. In the early mornings and evenings like tonight, the sky glows pink like Yuuji is the one who has inspired it. He is bigger than nature, than life itself.

Summary
Tartaglia shakes his head. He sighs deeply, squeezing his eyes shut to ward off the name that had been about to take form in his mind. It’s a bit fucking grim, isn’t it? That a man who likely hasn’t thought of Tartaglia in months has managed to haunt him all the way back to his homeland. To Her Majesty’s palace, no less. Let him stay in Liyue, where he belongs, and the memories with him.

Tartaglia is finally home. In Zapolyarny Palace, his beloved Tsartisa's home, it feels sacrilegious to have the Archon of another land on his mind.

Summary
After all, it’s at least partly his fault Itadori is here in the first place. It wouldn’t do well to be - cold, to him, on top of that. It would be the right thing, the more moral thing to do, maybe. To keep him at arms length to make sure that his miscalculations wouldn’t hurt Itadori again, wouldn’t put him in danger. Megumi doesn’t want to lull him into any false sense of security that the world of Jujutsu is fun and welcoming and about saving the world, because it isn’t. But...
He’s clearly making an effort to be friends. Megumi isn’t - he isn’t a cruel person. Not to those that don’t deserve it, and he isn’t a robot either, despite the jokes his classmates make. Itadori doesn’t deserve it.
With a sense of finality, he thinks: Tsumiki wouldn’t like it if he were unkind to Itadori, when Itadori was being kind to him. And that settles it.
---
Megumi falls in love bit by bit, inch by inch, the way the sole on your favourite pair of shoes wears in over time, or how the sun travels across the sky.
