Summary
Regina’s fingers curl around the fluttering heart, still buried deep within the woman in front of her. She hesitates at the steady ba-bump ba-bump ba-bump rhythm it carries out. Unchanging even when Regina flexes. Her eyes lock with this new, incomprehensible foe: a bizarre creature who dares meet Regina’s gaze with steely determination even in the face of imminent death.
“Okay,” the woman says. Soft, but resolute. She staggers forward into Regina, features pained but open in something like tenderness.
And when their foreheads fall together, Regina marvels at the realization that for the first time in her life, she’s holding a heart devoid of fear.
“Maybe it’s time for a new tactic, huh?”

The Evil Queen awakens one evening to find her castle under siege. She takes to the battlefield, intent on putting an end to Snow White’s rebellion at last.
Regina dies. Then she wakes up to fight her war all over again, and the cycle continues.
