He was expecting a stranger.
He’s fifteen, and there is a boy he likes. It makes him angry. The boy leaves. That makes him angrier. So he needs to hurt someone. Anyone. The fury turns inwards, becomes a weapon.
Not a ghost.
He is fifteen, and there is another boy. A smirk in a sun-drenched yard. A lazy, challenging gaze. A wicked laugh. This one, he tells himself, he will not like. Cannot afford to like. The boy seems not to care. Until one day, he does. And then he, too, leaves.
