Summary
His leg is elevated in a sling, stitched up and bandaged. The come off the drugs will be messy and Wei Wuxian dreads the pain he’ll be in but for now, he can only look at Lan Wangji and try to commit his face to memory once more, overlapping all the other memories that are more than five years old.
Wen Ning waits by the door but when Wei Wuxian says nothing, he doesn’t dare enter. “Is- Is he a friend, Wei-xiong?”
Wei Wuxian laughs, a bitter sound. Friend is a very inaccurate way to describe his relationship with Lan Wangji. “More like… my first love.” It’s the first time he’s ever said it outloud, recounting the amount of times he tried to confess it to Jiang Yanli to no avail. He typed out so many replies to Lan Wangji over the years, wanting so badly to say hi, I miss you, I want to come back, I wish I took you with me, would you have liked that?
But every time he typed, he worried Lan Wangji would see those three little dots and Wei Wuxian wondered if he even deserved the time of day.
In which Wei Wuxian is a doctor and Lan Wangji ends up on his patient roster five years after Wei Wuxian ran away from everything he knew.
