“I didn’t think you’d come.”
The words are so startling that Jaeyi can’t help but panic. “Why? Are you angry that I was so late?”
“No,” Seulgi smiles, and Jaeyi relaxes. She wouldn’t lie to her. “It’s just, people tend to easily forget about me. So I’m not used to doing the waiting. I don’t really like doing so.”
Sometimes Jaeyi forgets just how much Seulgi went through before they met. And yet, here Woo Seulgi is, carrying a fire as fierce as if no one has ever tried to stomp it out by force.
Unlike her. Who has every power in the world to keep hers burning, but ultimately failed to do so. That is, until she found something, someone, worth fighting for.
“I don’t know about other people, but I always keep my promises. So you always have to wait for me, okay?” Then, because of a little pinprick of guilt, Jaeyi adds with a sheepish smile. “Of course, I’ll be late sometimes. But I promise I’ll make it.”
Deeming the conversation finished, Jaeyi goes to break eye contact. But the hand seizing her wrist stops her dead in her tracks.
“Is that really fair, Jaeyi?”
