Summary
So this is just me being kinda done with the duffers. Not just about byler but the entirety of volume two. I’ll share my thoughts, and I would love it if yall would share yours :)
Edit: I will def try to reply to as many comments as I can, but it may take a while. I’m honestly shocked and grateful at how many people are agreeing with my incoherent rambling thoughts, but thank you all so much! Even if byler isn’t canon, I’ll always be a member of byler nation.
Edit #2: I’ve also decided to make a second chapter to this that’s an actual fix-it just because I’ve never written one, and I also don’t wanna go against ao3 policy. Don’t expect it to be good, but I should have it finished before volume three. That is allBookmarked by lv_angelo

“I’m thinking of ending things.”
James pressed his lips together hard as he fought the urge to suck in a breath at the words. He instinctively reached for his binder of prepared materials and began to flip through it as if it would have the answer, rustling the pages frantically as he did.
“Hello?”
James flinched. “Um, hi, yes sorry it’s uh-- it’s my first day.”
A pause. Then, dry as a bone: “Brilliant. You’d think they’d at least train you to tell people not to kill themselves before handing you a phone.”
James froze, then panicked. “Oh God-- you’re right, I mean, of course-- I didn’t-- oh, shit, I just--”
James’s rambling was interrupted by a quiet sound, over so quickly he almost missed it.
The caller had laughed.
At him.
