Ava frowns. She had assumed the relic was merely to be placed upon whoever was available and considered fit enough. The concept of a line makes it all seem way less spontaneous. In fact, it sounds fucking dynastic.

___This work is a canon divergent take where Ava doesn't run off in episode 3 and the Halo has a unique effect on every bearers body. This fic is a g!p and there will be explicit sex scenes and violence, keep that in mind. Also I don't have a beta and english is not my first language, so expect mistakes.

Summary
The woman from the club—the one she’s fantasized about for over a month—stands before Caitlyn, panting and bent over, clutching to her side in obvious agony. Sweat beads at her temple and drips down her angular cheek, where strands of pink stick to her skin. It’s chilly outside, and yet she’s feverish, more than likely from the stab wound and other knicks she might have obtained from the battle laid waste behind them.
They’re silent, staring at each other, as Caitlyn watches. Can’t find it within her to speak, even if the pressure against her throat is quite tight. She just stares, feeling something ache within her at the visceral mistrust and anger that dances within those steel depths.
“Small world,” She hears the woman say. Her voice is raspy, deep despite her smaller height, and there’s a challenge within them, like she thinks Caitlyn is going to try and fight her, “Seeing you here, cupcake.”

Vi bumped into the girl in front of her, her bike hitting the back of the woman’s legs way more than it should.
“Oh my god… I’m so sorry about that. Are you hurt? How bad is it?” Vi asked, out of concern.
Caitlyn stared blankly, out of words to answer her.
“Oh, it’s not too bad. I’m more concerned to know why you were speeding down a hill.” Caitlyn glared. “And my coffee, of course.”

“You don’t mean it,” Caitlyn replied, and Vi’s expression changed from - she didn’t know what. She was too drunk, and too woozy, and too filled with feeling to unpack or process or do anything but react. Vi’s face contorted from something into confusion, hesitation.
“I don’t?” Vi asked, and it was the right thing to say, because it allowed Caitlyn to cling onto her devices and push her narrative. It was the wrong thing to say, because it slowly crushed the hope that had built in Caitlyn’s chest.
“You don’t,” Caitlyn continued, “Vi, you can’t.”
"Why not?" was the reply.

When Vi makes a surprising confession, Caitlyn isn't expecting the avalanche of feelings it causes. But when she thinks back, looks at a lifetime of friendship, she starts to see the blast points that caused it.
