Gen flirted and that was that. It was practically one of his core personality traits, right up with weaseling out of work and lying with a straight face. Assigning a deeper meaning to it would be like assigning intent to static electricity - annoying and surprising, but ultimately random. He'd sit back and watch, waiting for Senku to fluster or brush him off as he usually would.
Senku instead decided it was finally time for Plan B.
