Summary
“What the hell is that?” Vi broke out.
Caitlyn did not respond.
“I mean that clearly wasn’t there before, right?”
“No. No, it wasn’t.” Caitlyn uttered, before finally getting ahold of herself.
She immediately grabbed her rifle. Expertly loaded it and supported the barrel on the inner shoulder of the driver seat. She looked through the scope, her finger twitching to turn off the safety switch.
After a couple of torturous moments Vi finally blurted out.
“What is it, Cait? What do you see?”“I don’t know, the fog, I can’t-“ Caitlyn anxiously stammered. “I cannot tell but judging from its size I fear it’s likely a person.”
Vi let that info sink in. There it was again, that ugly weight clawing at her shoulders. She couldn’t dwell on it again, fuck that.

The exclusion zone expands in a desperate attempt to contain and conceal the outbreak of a violent epidemic. Having barely escaped as the city fell into anarchy, Caitlyn and Vi now struggle to survive and link up with what is left of their families, as well as their own humanity.
