Rhaenyra swallowed, softly tugging her wrists in an attempt to release a bit of strain, the knots around her bones too tight to get loose. Damp rope made the ties even tighter, she had learned over the months.
“I’m sorry.”
Daemon arched his brows, his hands strolling on her collarbone, her arms, rubbing dirt, chasing sweat.
“Are you?”
After a vain escape attempt, Daemon has his niece back in the chamber they share, far away from King's Landing. He wants to keep her safe, caged in his arms.
Rhaenyra cannot fathom safety, if he stays with her.

Daemon returns from the Stepstones, only to find out that Rhaenyra now wears a golden mask to scare her suitors away - one that she shall only take off for her husband.
It only drives him mad, for he needs to see her face.
