Summary
Caitlyn has never considered herself an artist but art has always been the center of her world: the making of it, the standing in awe in front of it, the collecting and curation of it—all of it. She vividly remembers the first time she laid eyes on a real Monet, the sallow hues of Rembrandt and the quiet murmur of her mother’s voice as she explained the subtle technique of Van Gogh’s sunflowers to a gap-toothed Caitlyn. Her childhood was the wide broad side of a fan brush and the almost acrid smell of paint thinner. Warm but sterile gallery walls.
Wherein Caitlyn has a whole art foundation to run, Jinx is a brilliant street artist and Vi just drills things into place.

Summary

A forensic scientist desperately searches for a new house, while trying to ignore the unhappiness that has been building up in her chest. A clothing store clerk knows she was lucky but doesn’t feel like it. A mother who believes in recognizing souls from a past life sees an opportunity and takes it.
Vague distant acquaintances to lovers? A slow burn, a shudder if you will…

“Ah. Yes. Indeed—well! You understand how Council meetings are. The more tedious and unimportant, the greater their determination to run through the night,” Caitlyn says, stepping behind the counter and reclaiming her bag. “And—shopping! I thought we’d better stock up before we found ourselves utterly bereft of food. I got your favourites, actually. I could make you dinner tonight?”
The offer hangs in the air. Caitlyn’s face is flushed, but Vi doesn’t question her. There’s no fun in trying to pry out whatever Caitlyn’s hiding; she always gives in too easily.
“Uh-huh,” Vi says.
“Right. Right. I’ll just—sorry to disturb you.”
