Raising a child is a bit like molding clay. Children are malleable. Every point of pressure counts, and the ache of ghostly fingerprints remains as a permanent mark. Once, Viktor had wondered which of his father's fingerprints had left him aching so ferociously. Now, he does not think his sweet father can take any of the blame, and neither can he, for all the years he spent young and confused and needing the impossible from his Dad. Maybe it's neither of their faults. Maybe he just came from a broken mold.
