Summary
Vi hears a voice with a distinctly Piltovian accent calling after her, “Excuse me!” She turns around to find the blue-haired woman facing her again. When Vi quirks one eyebrow up, the woman continues, stepping a few feet closer to Vi as she does so. “Are you- are you the Goblin?” she asks.
That makes Vi laugh, “Gods, I haven’t heard that name in a few hundred years. Who’s asking?”
The woman smiles, holds her hand out, and says, “I’m Caitlyn, Piltover Grim Reaper’s Department precinct 516. I have a question for you.”

Vi died almost 900 years ago, with her own sword buried in her chest, put there at the command of her own sister. But then she was dragged back to life by forces that she hardly understands. She is granted immortality that can only be ended by one person, her bride.
Caitlyn is a dutiful grim reaper. Her job is to guide souls to the afterlife, but when a mysterious command invokes the immortal warrior called the Goblin, Caitlyn must delve into the secrets of a world that she previously thought she understood. And she just might fall in love along the way.

Vi holds the book up, “Since you don’t like this one, you, uh, got any recommendations for books you like more?”
Her seat neighbor’s smile returns then, her eyes brightening. “Yes, I, uh,” she pauses and bites her lip, her smile still breaking through as her blush deepens. She looks down at the space between their seats as she begins to speak, “I’ll give them to you in exchange for your number.”
The eye contact returns then and Vi feels her face grow red and hot again, it’s probably getting close to the shade of her own hair, but she’s smiling nonetheless. “You got anything to write on?”

Caitlyn and Vi are recent college grads living in New York City in the late nineties, they meet by chance and quickly become enamored with each other. But as their relationship develops, cracks begin to show: neither of them are out to their families and they're both struggling with their identities and their hope that they will get the future that they always dreamed of. When these cracks begin to force them apart, they must face the reality that they may never get everything they wanted. And the question of whether their love is worth the sacrifice.
