Summary
Sometimes your brain catches you at your most vulnerable and feeds you a spiral of negative thoughts, however irrational they can be.
Jiro, who is good at bottling up his feelings, gets caught in one of these spirals.
Jyushi knows the drill all too well himself, and thankfully, he's there to help pull Jiro out of it.

Summary
The same way Jiro has no qualms wearing his earnest, naive heart on his sleeve, he puts his life on the line to learn through the mistakes he makes along the way, without giving the slightest damn about the inevitability of getting his heart broken or the possibility of losing himself, for the sake of his pride and all that he loves. And then Jiro only ever learns that way, the hard way, to learn at all. Saburo simply can’t fathom something that fatally moronic.

Because though thoughtful and reasonable and technical and calculated in just about everything he does— he has to live up to his reputation as a so-called a genius, after all— Yamada Saburo isn’t exempt from the oh so normal-kid reaction of just giving, when all the small things pile up and beat him into surrender to frustration.
The fifteen days he’d gone with neither serious conversation nor playful banter with Jiro, the fifteen minutes that’ve passed since he saw Ichiro’s dejected expression, and the fifteen seconds it takes him to dump all his erasers out from his pencil case— it all piles up and beats Saburo into surrender to frustration, and—
—And Saburo seriously feels like he could cry.

Jiro can pretend to hate it so much he could gag, stick his tongue out and go blegh in Saburo’s face just to piss him off, but the truth is he’s grown partial to Saburo and all the bullshit he says, whether he likes it or not. And because of that, for better or for worse, Jiro can’t really do anything about how often his little brother crosses his mind. Even when he’s doing the most mundane of things, like looking for his earphones in the junk in his schoolbag on a Friday afternoon after class.

“If you forgot to get me food, just say so, jerkface.”
The quip was almost rehearsed— Jiro is so used to this he didn’t even have to think before the words flew off the tip of his tongue. But there’s Saburo’s lack of response again, and out of his control, against his will, an unease rises in his chest, unnameable and difficult to grasp, much unlike the way Saburo was holding fast onto the handrail of the stairs.
“Saburo. What are you going up to Niichan’s room for?”
