When he had told Alhaitham in the study last night that he hadn’t experienced any out of the ordinary dreams since the terminal's shutdown, it hadn’t been a lie. He simply hadn’t expected to eat his own words so soon after.
(And he absolutely had not predicted that the very same night he would be plagued by detailed figments of his imagination that he swore still lingered on his skin like a specter.)
So what if he had dreamt of having sex with his roommate? Certainly it would be a one time anomaly.
Or, Kaveh has explicit dreams about Alhaitham and struggles with the startling (not so new) revelation that sometimes, you don't choose the person you fall in love with. It just happens.
