Will’s eyes flicked to Lucas. His eyebrows were high up on his forehead, eyes widened, and he shifted up a little straighter, like he was intrigued. Like he knew what was coming, and was bracing for it.

“And— and it’s like… shit, it’s like— kind of awful, y’know? Um. To figure out. The thing’s not awful. Well— maybe. Probably. Possibly? You guys might think so. My dad thinks so. I kind of think so? Uh. Well. Not as much. Not anymore?” His shuddering hand gestured outwards, pointing at nothing, a wide gesticulation of no substance or meaning beyond nervous habit. Mike sucked in another harsh breath. “And it’s like… this— this massive thing. Like, life-changing. It’s kind of re-contextualised my whole life, actually. Like I’ve suddenly switched D&D classes, or something.”

    Summary

“I don’t think that it has to mean that you’re into guys,” Lucas says. His words are accompanied by a casual shrug, and said in the tone of someone who has clearly already given this subject some thought. Will doesn’t know what to do with that information. Jump from a building, maybe. “I mean, we’d all get flustered if Spider-Man carried us in his arms.”

Mike points to him enthusiastically. “Thank you, Lucas.”

Dustin looks between the two of them, his eyes narrowed.

    “...Would we?”

“Sure,” Mike concludes. “He’s attractive. That’s not a weird thing to think.”

Will just barely resists the urge to bang his head against the table. He feels Dustin’s eyes glued to his burning face, and sinks even further down his chair.

In which Mike tells Spider-Man that he has a crush on his best friend, and Will jumps to some very wrong conclusions.

    Summary

"When Jake looks at his children, he feels like he wants to live. He feels hope, and strength, and faith, and innocence.
    Recently, he's also felt despair.
He held each of his children's kurus to connect them to their first communion with Eywa. He held his children's hands as he taught them to shoot their first arrow. He held up their spirits in a time of darkness, because it was the only thing he could do.
He also held a knife to his eldest son's neck, and prayed for the strength to drive it through his carotid.
    He can’t forget it."

    Summary

    Lo’ak’s eyes lift. “Promise?”

Jake lifts his pinky. “Pinky promise.”

Lo’ak’s smaller pinky wraps around it, serious as anything.

“See?” Jake says softly. “That’s another thing others can’t do—but we can. And pinky promises never break.”

    Lo’ak nods solemnly. “Ever?”

Jake squeezes his finger gently. “Ever.”
