Summary
If Kim were in the business of judgment, of determining deservedness, he would say that Harry doesn’t deserve this. Comfort, that is. He has spent a long time - longer than the past week, longer than Kim truly understands - wrecking his proverbial Kineema without a hint of self-awareness. Penance is a key tenet of many major religions, that of the Dolorians but one of them.
But he finds, as he keeps Harry’s hair from falling into his face again, that he doesn’t want that penance to come like this: receptors howling in agony as they adjust to the new normal.
