But when he's - not - patiently waiting for a very important phone call, he gets one from another number.

Another small bang, slightly louder. Whatever it was, it was getting close.
A little bang on the door and a small child’s voice. “Papa? Daddy?”
The door pushed open slowly with a small grunt of effort and a small child fell in. Buddy’s soul left his body.
There was a little boy, who looked barely three years old, lying on the floor. He had blonde hair and big eyes like Chase. He was small, Buddy noted. Much smaller than what he remembered children looked like.
