hiori gives a downright embarrassing noise anywhere between a shriek and a yelp—he has no idea how to classify it—as he whips around, his arm nearly chopping the other person's nose clean off in a panic. unfortunately, they dodge just as he swings, effectively preventing that from happening. they let out a low, amused laugh, clearly unsurprised by his reaction.
"whoops! sorryyy," they sing, without the slightest hint of apology in their tone. hiori thinks he feels his eye twitch.
"ya don't just approach people like that out of nowhere?! i didn't even hear ya comin' up behind me, some warnin' woulda been nice—"
hiori's breath hitching interrupts his own semi-panicked, irritated ranting, his eyes going wide.
