Summary
At the door, Kai wraps her arms around Taehyun’s neck. “Have fun at school today,” she says, sweet.
Taehyun wants to say that school can never be fun, but then Kai is kissing her and she finds herself kissing Kai back, and for a moment, they stand transfixed like that, in the hallway, kissing. It’s almost a perfect morning, even when Taehyun is running on three hours of sleep and Kai would never love Taehyun the way Taehyun loves her, but she lets herself have this, just a little more. Taehyun actually has fun at school: her professor praises her essay during class, and Heeseung pays for her bagel at lunch. During boxing, Taehyun executes excellent, perfect footwork, and her punches are all quick and precise. Despite that, the rest of the day could never live up to that morning. Not even close.
