Summary
Nikki lingered near the door, still pulled by her curiosity to gaze out at the storm. Everything looked so alien, the once familiar camp bathed in a new, foreign light. The chatter of her campmates is quiet compared to the patter of the rain on the slanted roof and against the windows.
When a thunderstorm blows across Camp Cambell, David gathers his kids in the Mess Hall to wait it out. They busy themselves with conversations, movies, and hot beverages, and Nikki finds herself basking in the warmth of their company.
