Summary
They'd always figured them being a human, or their lack of speaking would drive anyone away, so they didn't even bother. Being forced into the darkworld with Susie though, was the universe putting them together, like it knew they wouldn't willingly become friends. In one single day, after their first adventure, everything changed. The two of them bonded in the darkworld, and just when Kris thought this was just a one time thing, Susie actually asked them to come back tomorrow with her. She wasn't driven away from Kris, she wasn't off-put by the human that didn't speak more then 10 words their entire day. For the first time in so long, Kris had hope, given to them by the girl with hope on her sleeve.

Summary
Both their heads snap toward the direction of one of the bathroom cabinets below the sink. Kris’ hand darts out to grasp at her arm, trying to tug her away, but they’re not fast enough and Susie’s palm has already enclosed around the knob. She pulls it open without a second thought, her eyebrows furrowing. Inside, almost inconspicuously, lies a beating red heart, a human soul, the very same that should currently be inside of Kris’ body.
