Summary
Both his heart and his body he offered in service to the Lord, and for all of his life he never resented this sacrifice. But bodily death and otherwordly rebirth brought to the Priest something new. In vain his heavenly heart tried to reconcile itself with this unknowable shadow now surrounding him. He was born again not by the hand of God, but by the hand of the devil.
