It’s not the same, but the sound of sneakers squeaking on the hardwood floor and the radiating heat of sweat faintly remind Yushi of the dance studio. She watches a group of girls pass the ball back and forth over the net, mentally superimposing an eight-beat count over the rhythm strung out of the nimble hits echoing through the gymnasium.
Yushi finds home again in Fukui and her new volleyball captain, Maeda Riku.
