His shouting caused said pretty man to turn his head towards him, and Wriothesley watched as his neighbor’s eyes widened in surprise.
A second later, Suzie was running between his legs, making him trip and fall to the ground unceremoniously, dropping the heavy box on the pavement.
Wriothesley winced and ran over to his new neighbor. The latter had sat up and was holding his ankle with a wince of pain on his beautiful face.

Neuvillette was about to question him on it when Wriothesley finally spoke. His voice was quiet, almost drowned by the muffled sounds of the people mingling together in the ballroom. “Unfortunately, Monsieur, it will only stop if everyone thinks you’re taken.”
“Which I am not,” replied Neuvillette. Wriothesley was right. And since Neuvillette could not – would not – entertain a romantic relationship, then he was doomed to suffer through those endless attempts at earning his favor.
Wriothesley huffed fondly. He said just as quietly, as if his words were a secret for them only; “I said if everyone thinks you are unavailable. It wouldn’t have to be real, just that the tabloids think it is.”

“It is clearly expected of the Fortress’ Administrator to be involved. What I meant to ask is who is directly involved in the ceremony. Do you happen to know it?”
“I’m sorry, Monsieur Neuvillette, I don’t understand what you mean. The Duke is the one participating in the ceremony, that’s all I know.”
