Summary
It never occurred to him that Jeongguk might see his phone calls and messages as a burden or chore. Jimin had just assumed Jeongguk was busy with other stuff, but it turns out that Jeongguk actively hates phone communication.
Now that it’s confirmed that his avoidance is more like an active dislike, he knows what he has to do, as a good friend. He doesn't want to become a pest, doesn't want to make Jeongguk resent him or have a negative reaction every time his name shows up in a notification.
It's time to let go.

Jungkook had always found it easier to run away and ignore things than to face them. It wasn’t that he lacked the strength—he actually had the courage to confront much more than he let on. But he often chose the easier path, believing that, no matter what, his hyungs would understand.
