“I can stand,” Izuku insists, coughing a little. His throat feels dry, and the steam can only dampen the air he’s breathing, not soothe the thirst. “I can do it.”
Ochako’s tone doesn’t leave anything up for discussion. “I didn’t ask if you could do it. We all know you could do anything if you really wanted to. We know you’re strong, Deku, you don’t have to show us.”
Izuku laughs, feeling hollow. “I’m not strong.” Shouto tenses slightly at his side, but before he can say anything, Izuku closes his eyes and shakes his head. “Please,” he says. He’s not sure if it comes out as a request or a plea. “Don’t tell me how strong I am.”
Or, the hero's shoulders, the human condition, a shower stall, and home.

A smile that crinkled the corners of his eyes — more so, with the passage of time, but just as beautiful. Green eyes would sparkle in the light, windows to the soul thrown open to show the true depth of his feelings at any moment that gaze was directed toward him.

“I can’t put it off any longer, ‘Zuku.” His voice won’t go beyond a whisper, but Izuku will understand just the same.
