Summary
“So I’m to be bait,” Akechi says flatly. “You’re serving me up.”
Ren can feel the grin on his face, and he can’t stop it. “I gotta open the store tomorrow, I only serve coffee.”
“Absolutely idiotic. Why would I agree to that?"
Ren shrugs one shoulder and leans back against the movie theater wall, smiling. He’s feeling light on his feet right now. It’s been a bad day, but the end is nice. “Call it penance.”
“Penance for what,” Akechi says.
His smile stays where it is as he glances away for a moment, then meets Akechi’s eyes again. “Being yourself.”

Summer vacation back in Tokyo was supposed to be two things: an exciting break from the mundanity of home, and a chance to see people he's missed so much it hurts. If he survives, Ren has good news for himself on both.

Summary
“Beloved,” Than breathes. Humming quietly, he adjusts his hold, so his hand is higher on Zag’s thigh. Than tilts his head, catching a kiss meant for his jaw with his lips. It’s a fleeting, lovely thing—there and gone so quickly Zagreus feels bereft. “Are you sure?” he whispers, a dangerous edge to his voice. “Do you know what you’re asking for when you plead for me to sate your hunger?”
Than and Zag have a rare moment to themselves.

Summary
He's late, he realizes.
There's a lot of blood here, he realizes a moment later. Not the blackened stains of shades temporarily banished, but the dark-red and glistening of mortal blood, spattered in desperate arcs across the grass, staining the water where the River Lethe pools. Across the chamber, it shifts to a trail of blood, the imprint of bare footprints burned into the darkening liquid.
There. There, slumped with his back against a green-glowing infernal trove, an ethereal sword buried in his chest, a pool of blood slowly spreading beneath him—Zagreus, Prince of the Underworld, his warmth and light so faded that Thanatos didn't even realize he was still in the chamber.

Summary
The fog won’t hurt him, that much is true, but it’s not exactly without effect. Zagreus feels it swirl around him, a hot dew that smells like grapes and honey and flowers and smoke and it tingles, a gentle numbing sensation sinking into his skin. He breathes in.
