The entire ring of keys slip from her fingers and hit the sidewalk with a crash. “Motherf—” Korra says under her breath, though she cuts herself off.
“Drop something?” the woman asks, her tone kind. Her voice deep. Smoky.
Korra feels her mouth click shut. “Oh, uh… thank you,” she says, and her throat feels dry despite the fact she’s just swallowed.
The woman tilts her head, an amused smile pulling at the corner of her painted lips. But then, as quickly as it appears, it drops. “Korra?”

Summary
To the twins, spending too much time in one world meant one thing: investment. Not only from themselves, but from the people they met as well. Ganyu pulls down her mask. "Keqing?" she repeats, mouth slightly parted.
She tries to smile. It comes out more like a grimace. "Hi."
Ningguang purses her lips. "Do you know each other?"
"No," says Keqing quickly. "No. We don’t."
It turns out six years after they've cut off all communication is when everything begins.

"What are you doing?" Beatrice asked.
"Reading." Ava cracked open the book and frowned at the pages. "Well, I'm going to try to."
"Why?"
"Because you're here and I want to hang out with you." Ava replied as if the answer was the most obvious thing in the world.
Her gaze was focused heavily on the book in her hand so it was no surprise that she didn't notice Beatrice openly staring at her.
"What are you reading?" Beatrice asked quietly after a few minutes.
"Poetry?" Ava turned another page. "Yep. Definitely poetry. I'd read one for you but I feel like I'd butcher them."
