Summary
A family can be many things. It can be nuclear, two parents, two children. It can be a grandmother trying her best to raise her daughter's son. It can be two fathers and their long awaited adopted child. It can be a sister working two jobs to support her younger brother.
Or it can be a fourteen year old with eyes like a lion's and super-strength, a glowing lesbian, her Wiccan sort-of girlfriend, a jock with an IQ of 173 that still doesn't know what he's doing, a girl who's got three feet thick concrete walls up (and also purple hair), her support dinosaur that does what she says no questions asked, and their de-facto leader, a boy who's just as scared as the rest of them but can't- won't- show it.
And maybe their situation isn't the best. They're on the run from the cops, a cult, and a murderous, glowing, Robbie Rotten knock-off, plus they're sleeping out of a stolen van. But they're a family, even if they're a weird one, and that's what matters.

We could give Glee a run for it’s money, that’s how bad this situation is.” She turned around and took a step back to look at the board. She sighed, then turned to Karolina. “How do you want to go about this? Do you want to concoct a scheme together? Need me to lock you guys in a room together? Wait, no, we need to break her up with Alex first. He’s kind of depressing and prone to game addiction so we probably just need to get him a World of Warcraft subscription.”

But it isn't all that cut and dry. These marks are twisted to define the social order, to divide the populace as much as unite them. Having a soulmark isn't easy when society places restrictions on who you can love or which marks are acceptable.
Gertrude Yorkes knows her soulmate, but life's a little too complicated for them right now, what with their parents being murders. Karolina Dean has other problems, the least of which being that she has two soulmarks. Chase Stein might be in love with his soulmate...maybe...unless she's not his soulmate...Nico Minoru really wishes her mark wasn't so easily hidden because maybe then she could find her soulmate. And Alex Wilder, well, Alex's found something, something that starts a chain reaction and sends the gang on a journey that will change everything.

Meanwhile, Alex just wants everyone to STICK TO THE PLAN. Will they get the information they need without getting caught? Will Gert work up the nerve to talk to Chase? How will Chase react when an unexpected person from Gert's past surprises them and asks for a dance?
