Summary
It took a second for his brain to rewire itself. He couldn’t tear his eyes away from Chris, who Eddie had picked up and was holding against him. The woman who had found him — who was trying to help him find Buck — had a hand on the boy’s back. He couldn’t see Eddie’s face, but he could see his shoulders shaking.
He needed to get over there. He needed to look over Chris himself.
”Chris,” Buck said, his voice choked and shaky. His throat burned. He tasted salt on his tongue. When had he started crying? “Chris—“
”Is fine,” Hen finishes for him, not letting him say another word. “He’s fine.”
”It’s you we’re worried about, Buck,” Bobby chimes in.

Summary
“I’m just saying, you definitely don’t look old enough to have a teenager,” the dad says, nodding towards Chris again. “How old are you, kid? Fourteen?”
Chris is staring at him now, too, grip tight around his crutches. “Fifteen?” he says, but it comes out more like a question than a genuine answer. He’s just as confused as Buck feels.
The dad lets out a low whistle. “Seriously, man,” he laughs, talking to Buck again. “Fifteen? You look good. I bet your wife is jealous as hell, though. It’s like you copy and pasted yourself.”
Oh.
Oh.
“Oh, I’m not—” Buck starts, his brain finally catching up to this confusing conversation. “He’s not—“
The dad’s eyes grow wide. “Oh,” he breathes, wincing. “Oh shit, my bad. I just assumed—I mean, you two just look so much alike.”

Summary
Buck gave him a look that somehow managed to be fond, exasperated, and completely wrecked all at once. “Eddie.”
Eddie frowned a little. “What?”
Buck stared at him for another beat. “You’re straight.”
Eddie actually laughed, quiet and startled.
“I’m serious,” Buck said, still looking half dazed. “You cannot kiss me like that and then act like you maybe had a suspicion about this. I have spent an extremely long time operating under the impression that you were devastatingly, inconveniently straight.”

Summary
“What do you want to do?” Buck asks. It feels like a safe enough question—something neutral, not too leading.
Eddie’s brain does not, apparently, think so.
“Touch— myself,” Eddie blurts, before his entire face flushes. He presses a thumb into the corner of his eye, nostrils flaring as Buck stares, jaw hanging open.
For a long, horrible moment, neither of them says a word.
OR: fate forces Buck and Eddie’s hands when they get doused with truth serum.

Summary
Chimney’s face does something complicated. “You’re… roommates,” he repeats.
Buck nods enthusiastically. “Yep. Roommates.”
Hen doesn’t blink. “You’re holding hands because you’re roommates.”
Ravi slowly stands up, still clutching his toast. “I have had roommates,” he says carefully, “and I have never held their hand.”
Eddie’s eyes narrow. “That’s sad for you.”
