He pointed across the room, to Attorney Na. As Haneul turned, she expected to see him berating some intern, or worse, standing with a determined set to his movements, ready to invalidate them and their work, but instead she saw something completely alien.
A smile. Well, something that looked like a smile. Haneul and Mun-hyung—as well as the other employees—sometimes gossiped and said that Na Baekjin didn’t know how to smile. It seemed that they were half-right, since what Haneul saw was crooked, lopsided, and had too many teeth.
But it was unlike anything she’d seen before from him. She was keen on emotions, and could feel that whatever he was looking at was making him… smile. With joy, an emotion that Attorney Na’s receptionist, Song Jieun, said would only grace his face if he was eating babies, or something.
(Or, the various employees of the “demon attorney” Associate Na Baekjin never expected, not in a million years, that their boss would ever smile at anything, never mind someone.)
