Summary
“It’s like this,” Mac explained. “Dennis has been kinda sad lately, you know? It’s… he has this thing, he calls it his God Hole, and he’s trying to use this kid to fill it up. But he’s way more dumber than I thought because he already tried that, and it didn’t work. And it’s so annoying because he still doesn’t realize that the person who’s gonna fill his hole is right in front of him.” He gestured to himself, just in case his point wasn’t clear. Charlie’s face lit up in realization.
“Ohhh, okay, that’s what this is about,” he said. “You want to fill Dennis’s hole.”
Mac coughed. “No, that’s— that’s not what I meant, don’t say it like that.”

Summary
It was easy to keep up the unspoken thing he and Mac had at first. Simple. Of course, nothing ever stayed simple, and Dennis had to decide whether to stick around and make an effort, or run and keep things they way they used to be. He was getting too tired to run anymore.

Summary
Monthly dinners were a thing again, only now the whole gang was involved. They all seemed insistent on ruining the song and dance Dennis had so carefully choreographed to keep things safe between him and Mac. Dennis could work with that, could keep things normal and unchanged. Until he couldn't. Until Charlie had to force them to do some bullshit to work through their nonexistent problems by complimenting each other, of all things.
It was bullshit. Dennis didn't have a script for it. He slipped up.

Summary
‘You’re what?’ Dennis asks blankly.
‘I’m moving out,’ Mac explains. The same three words he said a second ago, and they don’t make any more sense in that order than they did the first time. ‘I was just – I was thinking about what you said, about wanting – uh. Wanting me to move out. And it kind of made sense, so. I guess I’m doing it.’
‘How did it make sense?’ Dennis asks.
---
After the events of Season 13, Mac moves out. Dennis handles it really well, obviously.

Summary
"See? Gotta be quicker than that if you don't wanna get hurt." Charles grins, giving Edwin's wrists a squeeze that's almost teasing. "Now you got no way to defend yourself from a big, bad guy."
"Are you talking about yourself?" Edwin asks with a raised brow. "I don't believe you fit such a description, Charles." He tests the other boy's grip—just a bit—but it's clear he's not going easy on him.
"I can be a bad guy." Charles argues, leaning down until they're nose to nose. "You just haven't seen it yet."
For a moment, Edwin is silent, just taking in Charles' smug expression and their rare close proximity. "I highly doubt that." Edwin rebuts. "As I said all those months ago, you are the best person I know. I don't think you have a— what is the saying? Oh, yes. I don't think you have a bad bone in your body."
