Summary
"Whatever I want?"
James knew he was making a pact with the devil. The whole idea was insane, he was very much aware. But he was drunk, and he was getting desperate. With this, he could do something. He could help people, be useful for the first time since he had gotten into the war.
He needed this.
So he squared his shoulders, looked straight into the steely grey eyes of Regulus Black, and said:
"Whatever you want."
Or,
James Potter has imagined countless times what his role in the war would be, but he never once thought it would consist on faking an engagement with Regulus Black nor the massive butterfly effect that would come out of it.

Summary
“All I’m saying is, if you want to get back at your ex, do it with someone who's in on the plan.” James comments, far too casual, and it makes Regulus stop in his tracks. James pauses, too, and they stand there in the middle of the dance floor, hands still linked.
“Are you volunteering, James?”
James takes a step forward. “What if I am?”
Or
When Regulus' cheating ex shows up at a party, he decides to kill two birds with one stone: Mess with his ex, and make James Potter jealous.
