Katsuki watches his face, unblinking. In dim lighting, Deku's irises always went indistinct, leaving his big eyes with big dark centers like some fucked-up species of cave fish searching for the smallest specks of light.

Summary
UA has a rule—no quirkless students. It was added years ago, after much hemming and hawing about safety concerns and lessening blame in the inevitable circumstance of death. There's no real reason to remove it, not as the percentage of quirkless people plummets further and further.
Of course, this rule doesn't actually matter to Izuku, because he's got an analysis quirk.
As far as anyone knows.
The Plan is simple: have a quirk, become a hero, and avoid anyone who could disprove those first two things.
In hindsight, UA isn't a great choice. And that's before the villains.

oh my god, this fic. i cannot recommend it enough. it’s such an incredibly good interpretation of quirklessness, the best “izuku fakes a quirk” scenario i’ve ever found, and extremely well written. izuku’s dilemma here hurts. so happy it’s been updating, and it just keeps getting better. :) definitely one of my favorites.

“is there… a job i can do, where i don’t have to disclose my quirkless status?” he asks.
“well,” the guidance counsellor says, “i mean, government employees don’t normally disclose their quirk status. it could pose a security risk. so if you wanted to go into civil service…”
and so, izuku starts an internship at the hero public safety commission.

hoo boy. i really like this series. the premise of hpsc president izuku sounds like it should be crack but it’s very easy to be drawn into the story here. izuku’s dissatisfaction with his life and his cognitive dissonance + refusal to accept the extent of his own abilities are palpable.

Summary
Having an Emergency Intimacy Contact (EIC) is standard heroic procedure these days.
This, of course, means that most heroes don’t really take it seriously anymore. Instead, using at least one spot on the EIC as a “fantasy pick” has become common practice.
A trend that #1 Hero Dekiru might, or might not, end up regretting when he runs afoul of a villain's quirk and his EIC list is activated.
Because no one was expecting Eraserhead, the demon-sensei of UA and source of Izuku's entire friend group’s lingering high school nightmares, to be Dekiru’s #1 pick.
Least of all Aizawa himself.
