Rose knows there’s something wrong with her. Something’s been wrong since That Day — and it’s not the newly acquired deafness, it’s something more… frightening.
She’s not sure what, but sometimes it feels like something petrifying has clawed its way deep into her skin, sunk its talons into her brain and operates her like some sort of mechanical doll, makes her eyes blink open and closed, pushes words she can’t hear from her lips and empties her mind of her thoughts, feelings and herself.
