    Summary

Throughout the seventies, John writes letters to Paul to let out all of the things that he can never actually say. He never intends to send them, of course. In retrospect, maybe he shouldn’t have addressed them and put the stamps on, although in his defense, how was he supposed to know that Sean would go through his drawers and decide to put them in the mailbox?

“It was a good piece of work between Paul and me. I had the ‘I read the news today’ bit, and it turned Paul on, because now and then we really turn each other on with a bit of song, and he just said ‘yeah’ – bang bang, like that.” — John Lennon

Or, John and Paul work on A Day in the Life.

Ten stories, windows into every instance where John and Paul kiss, scattered across time, five each from the third-person perspective of them both. As their relationship changes and grows over the years they share, neither of them are quite prepared for what slowly blossoms between them.

    Summary

I realized something as I was listening to "Now and Then." We use the phrase to mean something that is occasional or once in a while, but it really doesn't mean that at all.

Now...We live in "now." Now is constant, it is always present. We live in it. There is the second after and the second before, but now is now.

And Then...what comes next. It's continuous, it goes on forever.

Then...used to talk about the past. But the past is simply made of endless moments that were once nows.

Now and Then really means all of the time. So...

When John sings that he misses Paul now and then, he's saying that he misses Paul all of the time.

When John sings now and then I want you to be there for me, he's saying he wants Paul there all of the time.

When John sings now and then I love you, he's telling Paul he loves him all of the time.

When John told Paul to think of me now and then, he was telling Paul to think of him all of the time.
