Naruto’s neck feels unbearably warm against Sasuke’s cheek as he’s pulled forcibly into an embrace, his irritated protests going largely ignored. It’s almost not really a hug so much as it is a cling, Naruto’s heels hitting Sasuke’s lower back, arm wrapping around Sasuke’s shoulders tightly. The shock of Naruto scrambling over onto his hospital bed isn’t enough to make the tears stop slipping down his cheeks, and he doesn’t have enough energy to truly resist – not that he truly wants to.

But then he was thinking about Sasuke’s mouth, the cut of his smirk and the way no, Naruto definitely had thought about that. And he’d thought about it when he smiled soft too, the way his mouth looked so different and yet still so unfairly beautiful. He hadn’t thought about kissing him though. The thought had the room shrinking. Shit. No, he was definitely not thinking about it. Not about how Sasuke would respond if he ever did kiss him. A wild variety of scenarios immediately flashed through his head and Naruto stopped breathing.
