Remus Lupin works at a record store-- Sirius Black is a criminal. (Not really). (Kind of). These two are idiots, but they're idiots in love. Remus Lupin is nervous, but he also thinks this Bowie-loving stranger is hot, so... why not give it a shot? Sirius Black has a cool facade, but inwardly he's panicking. But the record store employee was hot, so... why not give it a shot?
Or- Remus and Sirius attend the same university, bond over music, and make each other less lonely, even if it takes a while to admit it.

James Potter is not an idiot, but that doesn't mean he's a prodigy. Regulus black is not heartless, but that doesn't mean he's good at feelings. Regulus Black lies a lot and James Potter tell the truth too often-- maybe that's why Regulus likes him.
