   He’d missed her first call, then she called back seven minutes later, a nervous churn of anticipation in his gut at the sight of her phone number lighting up the cracked screen of his burner. He answered on the second ring, but all she needed was a ride. Frank found her in Yonkers eating a slice of cherry pie in an empty diner, kitchen towels tied around her feet, chatting with the raspy, nicotine-tinged waitress with tattooed-on eyebrows.
