    "Hey," Eddie says, voice coming from the kitchen. Buck can hear him puttering around, feels his presence in his bones like a familiar tug drawing him in. Walks in to find exactly what he expects: Eddie putting dishes away after dinner, getting everything back where it belongs, and two beers already on the counter waiting for Buck to finally get here. Honey, I'm home.

    "Hey." Buck manages to say, elongating the Y a little bit. In the hopes it'll make him sound finer than he is, he guesses.
