"Jungkook remembered his first weeks in Seoul. The long days and lonely nights before he met Taehyung. Back when he truly had no one.
He had considered himself lonely before that. He hadn’t had many friends back home. He hadn’t been picked on, but that was only because he knew not to draw any attention to himself. As long as he was quiet and didn’t react to something he liked, like a song or just something someone said, he knew he was masculine presenting enough not to get in trouble.
His mom and dad had pressured him to do good in school and sports and he had. He played along. He had even been grateful for the rules set up around him. There hadn’t been any doubt what was expected of him, no space for him to think about what he might want himself. Everything had been fine. He had walked through life, quiet, disciplined and everything had been fine.
Then he had entered through the school doors. Dressed in a black hoodie, fringe long and legs longer and suddenly Jungkook could feel the air in his lungs and life itself cut through the haze he had surrounded himself with."

Jungkook knew to close the doors properly, never leave the cupboards open, not to leave his stuff around the apartment, do the dishes and be very careful to not leave a mess of small pools of water behind. He never played his music too loud and made sure to straighten his back when they were eating. He didn’t mess around with his food or rest his elbows on the table during dinner. And he never, never looked at his father the wrong way, which meant he hardly looked at him all.
