Summary
Superpowers are a finicky thing.
Some people figured out what theirs is in a matter of minutes, others took their time, but by now most of them have got the hang of at least one aspect of their power. Grian’s been wandering around the server, checking everyone’s progress and giving some pointers to those who struggle more (for a small price of borrowing their power, of course). He’s glad to help them, he really is! Even if it means losing the quite limited time he has with his own power — well, Pearl’s power, at the moment.

On a typical day, his words would be respected. He’d be given tight smirks and smiles, mirth dancing in everyone’s eyes as they politely swallowed back words.
It’s not that day.
Uraraka almost bends in half with laughter, arms wrapped around her torso. “You’re so cute,” she partly cackles. Hagakure has wrapped him up into her arms, pinching his cheeks despite his struggles. “Itty bitty baby!”
“I’m going to kill you,” Hitoshi threatens. His squished cheeks make the threat soft.

Somehow, ineffably, he still finds his way to being a hero, even when his body fails him. Even if it's the last thing he does.
(where quirks are not always kind, and the author ruminates on the idea that trauma can be a list of smaller things that grow into something bigger and all the more willing to swallow someone whole. But it’ll be okay, eventually, because Izuku’s got Mirio by his side, and Mirio has got him).

The King is gone. Derek knows this. The King is gone and Derek is here and the life they have built is real and good and full of plants with Latin labels and forty-seven thousand subscribers and butterfly pasta on Wednesday nights.
The fault lines are also real.
It starts on a Monday with a book that mentions stars. By Friday Derek has spent a week navigating cracks in the wall between what he knows and what humans are supposed to know, and he is exhausted, and he has said none of this out loud, and Avery has noticed all of it and said nothing and simply stayed close in the particular Avery way of staying close that does not announce itself and does not demand anything and is somehow the most useful thing in the world.
On Friday afternoon Derek says: I think I need to talk to someone professional about this.Avery says: I know a really good therapist.
Derek says: of course you do.
Avery says: I looked her up three weeks ago. Just in case.That is, somehow, the most romantic thing anyone has ever said to Derek Hutchins.
