Summary

An alternate modern setting where Jinshi and Maomao meet under different - but slightly similar - circumstances and their feelings develop all the same.

Summary
Jinshi paid for the whole night, but the reason why is far more innocent than Maomao expects. Jinshi's reason might be innocent, but as soon as he meets the brilliant and beautiful woman he quickly starts to fall head over heels. He might be able to convince her to assist with his investigation, but can he convince her to trust him with her heart?
A fic that draws on elements of canon, but is not actually canon. An AU where Maomao is a courtesan at Verdigris House. The palace is plagued with mysterious deaths, and Jinshi suspects poison. He's told of a courtesan that has knowledge of medicine and poison, and seeks her out with the intention of requesting her assistance with the investigation.
